Care Home Friends and Neighbours (FaNs): Intergenerational Linking

We are delighted to be one of the 10 national organisations to be delivering the Care Home Friends and Neighbours project in collaboration with The Linking Network.

Care Home FaNs is an exciting social action project linking together young people aged 5-14 from schools and youth organisations with care homes.

Over the past 18 months, we have been supporting 10 schools / youth groups and 10 care homes in Newcastle’s West End and Sunderland’s Coalfields area. We have been supporting the organisations involved to design and deliver an intergenerational linking program that address a social need in their community whilst connecting generations and promoting . through a practical approach of workshop delivery which has unskilled participants and cemented relationships.

In order to preserve the legacy of the project, we will be supporting schools and care homes to sustain their links with one another.

If you work at a school or a care home in the Northeast of England and are interested in joining our network, you can send us a direct email and we can give you an update on our current opportunities.

If you live further afield, you might want to check out the Care Home FaNs 10-week challenge. You can find an overview of the challenge and a link to sign up here:
